Oops, I did it again…

The living room in my childhood home has always reminded me of the library from Beauty and the Beast. I spent hours of my youth with a dreamy far-off look and my nose stuck in one of the thousands of books that line the floor-to-ceiling bookcases.

To this day you can find mementos of my younger years hidden among the shelves. In addition to hundreds of homemade due date slips I meticulously taped inside the back covers of our books (#nerdalert), you’ll also discover one literary category not included in the Dewey Decimal System – unfinished childhood diaries.

I started lots and lots of diaries in my youth (emphasis on started). If you were to pull them off the shelves and read the profound thoughts of my juvenile mind, you’d likely notice a trend. Nearly every journal has two or three consecutive entries followed by an apology note: “Dear diary, sorry I haven’t written in a while…”

Old habits die hard, so here I am writing – you guessed it – an apology.

Dear blog, I’m sorry I haven’t written in a while. I swear it’s not you; it’s me.

After a difficult and emotional spring, I needed some space to focus on professional pursuits and a different kind of personal development – making memories with Penelope over the summer. But the time has come for her to go back to school and me to go back to blogging. Be on the lookout later this week for a new challenge to help you live your best life… or another apology note. (Only kidding!)
